A sketch from the Ichthyosaur book, which might also be the cover. The Ichthyosaur was actually a reptile, not a fish. Over millions of years, they ranged in size from a few feet to whale-size. In the early 1800s a young girl discovered the first Ichthyosaur fossil to be found in England. She often hunted for fossils on the beach and sold them. She is the one who made up the tongue-twister, "She sells seashells by the seashore," referring to herself.
